I love free stuff. Who doesn’t, right? One of my favorite free stock photo websites is stock.xchng. I love hitting their “randomizer” button to see what random photos come up. I’ve been inspired to create a new series of blog posts entitled Random Photos.
My goal is to post one random photo per day from stock.xchng and find a way to relate the photo to media – web design, marketing, etc.
So here’s the first:
Does your salt shaker (AND your website) have character?
I love this little salt shaker, and that’s because it has character and personality. It’s not just a drab shaker that you would see it some common restaurant. It’s vibrant, fun and different – just like your website should be.
Website Tip: add character and personality to your website through CONTENT, not design.
Reason: If you “over-design” your website because you think it has to have a lot of flashy stuff to impress visitors, you’re going to run into a lot of problems in the future. Keep your design simple and classic so that it can withstand the test of time (which in online years equates to about 3 years).
Instead of developing a website that will become quickly dated, insert your character and personality into the content by writing your content in your own voice and adding a blog that allows you to share your personality!
