Will Google take out Groupon?

As you may have heard a while back, Google reportedly offered to buy Groupon for $5-6 Billion dollars and was rejected. As suspected, they are now developing their own similar service, Google Offers.

Google Offers takes on GrouponIf you haven’t heard of Groupon yet, I encourage you to go sign up. It’s free to sign up, and every day you will be emailed a “Deal of the Day” for a local vendor, usually 50-60% off. For example, I bought a $40 gift certificate for Auntie’s Bookstore in Spokane for $20. Pretty good deal, right? Well, you’re not the only one who thinks so. Groupon has become so popular that even Google wants a piece of the action now.

What this means for your marketing plan: Use Groupon and maybe even Google Offers in the future for a quick promotion of your business. Yes, you have to give a substantial discount. But if it means acquiring new business in the numbers of thousands, it’s probably worth it.

As always, if you want help, advice, or a free consultation on how you can use social marketing platforms like Google and Groupon to grow your business, contact us today and we’ll be happy to review what you have, what you want, what you need, and what it’s going to take to earn your business more revenue.
